We’re Renaming The Lifestyle

Renaming the Lifestyle: Finding Language That Fits Us All

The swinger lifestyle is full of amazing, unique people who bring so much color and personality to the community. But let’s be real—some of the language we use just doesn’t fit everyone. Words matter, and they can make people feel included, seen, and respected—or the exact opposite. That’s why it’s time for a change.

Right now, we’re looking for a new term for single people in the lifestyle. Something non-gendered, non-binary, and just… better. A word that feels fresh, fun, and fits the vibe of our diverse community. It’s not about throwing out tradition, but about making space for everyone to feel like they belong.

Why Does This Matter?

Language shapes how we see ourselves and others. For a lot of people, the current terms don’t quite hit the mark. They can feel outdated or too narrow for the kind of inclusivity and acceptance this community is all about. We’re all here to connect, explore, and have fun—so shouldn’t the words we use reflect that?

By rethinking the way we talk about things, we’re making a statement: Everyone is welcome here, no matter how they identify. Whether someone is a couple, a solo explorer, or somewhere in between, they deserve language that celebrates who they are.

The Ideas So Far

We’ve been playing around with some ideas for what this new term could be. Words like Eclipse, Phoenix, and Nova have come up, and they each bring something special:

Eclipse: Mysterious, transformative, and unforgettable—just like the singles who light up every room they walk into.

Phoenix: Bold, resilient, and full of energy, always rising to new experiences.

Nova: Bright, vibrant, and full of life, radiating joy and bringing people together.

Each word carries its own unique vibe, and we love how they capture the essence of what it means to explore the lifestyle as a solo individual. They’re fresh, gender-neutral, and easy to use in conversation—exactly what we’re looking for.

How You Can Help

This isn’t just about coming up with a catchy word; it’s about creating something that feels right for the community. So, we want to hear from you! What do you think of these ideas? Do any of them resonate with you? Or do you have other suggestions? Let’s figure this out together.

By working as a community, we can create language that reflects who we are today and where we’re going in the future. After all, the lifestyle has always been about connection and evolution—why not let our words evolve too?

Let’s make this happen. Share your thoughts, and let’s find a word that feels like home for everyone.

You misspelled "PHOENIX" (in the image). Also, these words are super try-hard. They say nothing about a single person, they're just cool words. Any number of regular words would be better. Solos. Solitaires. Singletons. Independents (or "indies"). How about "singles"?

Ok so you make a very good point here! Singles describe everyone—when I say single in the lifestyle do I mean a dragon? A unicorn? A bull? I wanted to give everyone a place to feel welcome because these are gendered words. But the point you’re making here is very valid and understood. I like indie a lot—like truly valuable constructive help here and I appreciate the insight.
